Movie Research: Nightcrawler

  What conventions of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? 

Louis Bloom is a morally ambiguous figure. He is driven, which makes him both captivating and unsettling. His journey from a desperate job-seeker to a manipulative nightcrawler embodies the genre's focus on morally complex protagonists. The film presents a gritty and atmospheric portrayal of Los Angeles, with its neon-lit streets, nocturnal activities, and the tension that lurks in its shadows. 
• What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked? 

The surroundings of Louis Bloom's actions and motivations offer an exploration of ethics, making the character and the narrative more compelling and unpredictable. The film's visual style is characterized by its atmospheric and intense close-ups, and its ability to create a dark and immersive atmosphere. The stylistic effectively enhances the tension and suspense, contributing to the film's overall impact. 
• What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task? 

The film's commentary on media and ethical compromises. The film's portrayal of the media industry as a morally bankrupt entity. The thematic depth and nuance of the story.
